Annual Oakland Black Cowboy Parade & Festival Oakland Celebrates Over Three Decades of Cowboy Culture OBCA Festival The Oakland Black Cowboy Association is best known as the host of The Black Cowboy Parade and Festival, the only parade and celebration of its kind in the United States. For over a quarter century, the Black Cowboy Parade, held in memory of the black cowboys that helped to settle the American West has been an annual event in Oakland, California. The parade is an exciting historic part of Oakland, California. The Oakland Black Cowboy Parade is usually held on the first Saturday in October. It begins at DeFremery Park in West Oakland and returns there for a festival following the parade. The judging stand is set up in downtown in front of Frank Ogawa Plaza on 14th street in Oakland just west of Broadway. Following the parade, the festival at DeFremery Park will host food vendors, entertainment, and children’s activities including pony rides. 2005 Riders Join us next year in Oakland to see the best parade a cowboy can offer.
